The near-final numbers for the Maharashtra civic polls clearly denote a thumping win for the BJP-led Mahayuti, and a complete decimation of the opposition, which had put up a promising show in the Lok Sabha elections, but faltered in the subsequent assembly polls, and now in the civic body elections.

What do the numbers look like?

Out of the results for 2784 wards out of a total of 2869 wards that had gone to polls across Maharashtra, the BJP has registered leads/wins in 1403 of them. Mahayuti partner Shiv Sena has become the second largest party by winning 361 wards across the state, and the Congress has come third with 312 wins. The counting of votes is still ongoing.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) put up a dismal performance with 165 seats, while Ajit Pawar's NCP has managed to win/lead in 159 wards across the state, until now. Sharad Pawar's faction of the NCP has won a total of 29 wards, while Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has registered wins/leads in just 18 wards across the entire state. Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM has won/got leads in a total of 94 wards.
