Long closures and heavy delays on M6

As per a BBC report, National Highways said the incident involved a “severe” road traffic collision, affecting the motorway between junctions 23 and 26. The M6 has been closed in both northbound and southbound directions, including the northbound entry slip at junction 23.

National Highways Traffic Officers are also at the scene, supporting police and emergency services as enquiries continue.

The closures have led to major disruption for motorists. Traffic delays of up to 60 minutes have been reported on the northbound approach, with around five miles of congestion. Southbound traffic is facing delays of about 30 minutes, with queues stretching roughly four miles.

Vehicles trapped within the closure are being turned around and directed off the motorway, with drivers advised to follow signed diversion routes.
