Seven months after parting ways with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, K Kavitha on Saturday launched her new political outfit, the Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
Kavitha, daughter of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, began the day by paying floral tributes at Amaraveerula Stupam in Hyderabad’s Gun Park before formally announcing the party.
In a post on X, she wrote, “Remember the name: Telangana Rashtra Sena… Your time is done, our time is now,” signalling an assertive start to her independent political journey.

Remember The Name: Telangana Rashtra Sena

We refuse to back down, come what may;
It is time the people of Telangana have their say.
We will not let our aspirations decay;
Be reduced to ashes if you dare come in our way.

A new beginning after BRS exit
After Kavitha had quit her membership of the BRS as well as her position in the Legislative Council because of disputes with the top leadership of the party months before, now she has decided to start a fresh political party.
While addressing her supporters, Kavitha emphasized that the party would try to bring back those dreams which had triggered the formation of Telangana. Kavitha also admitted that the formation of Telangana did not turn out to be entirely satisfactory, requiring a fresh political strategy.
Kavitha also referred to her earlier role in the movement and said that moving forward required more than just reflection. “Corrective action must come through committed work,” she told supporters.
Focus on Telangana identity and governance
Outlining her vision, Kavitha said the Telangana Rashtra Sena would combine political action with grassroots mobilisation to address issues such as governance gaps, public fear and illegal activities affecting everyday life.
She highlighted the contribution of Telangana Jagruthi, an organisation she has led, particularly in mobilising women through cultural initiatives like Bathukamma, which played a role in strengthening the statehood movement.

The launch event was held at the Adhya Convention Centre, which was transformed into a large gathering venue for supporters and party workers.
Kavitha’s entry with a new political platform is expected to add a fresh dimension to Telangana politics, especially as regional dynamics continue to evolve following her split from the BRS.
