The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) on Saturday extended unconditional support to C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a decision that significantly bolstered the party’s bid to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
The support, conveyed through letters addressed to Governor Rajendra Arlekar, came from VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan and legislature party leader Vanni Arasu, both confirming backing from the party’s two MLAs.

Majority math shifts in TVK’s favour
In his message, Thirumavalavan said the decision was taken “in the interest of stable and democratic governance” and that the party had decided to extend “unconditional support” to TVK.
In Chennai, he also informed reporters that the move aimed to prevent President's rule in the state.
The decision pushes TVK’s support to the majority mark, with the alliance crossing the halfway line in the 234-member House.
