Six dead, including five children, in Meerut house fire

Six people, including five children, died after a fire broke out at a house in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Police said the blaze started due to a short circuit at the residence of Iqbal, a resident of Kidwai Nagar in the Lisari Gate police station area, on Monday night. The house was located inside a very narrow lane, making firefighting efforts difficult.

Air ambulance crashes in Jharkhand's Chatra

A Delhi-bound air ambulance crashed shortly after take-off from Ranchi on Monday night, claiming the lives of all seven people on board. The Beechcraft C90, registered as VT-AJV and operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was on a medical evacuation flight to the national capital when it went down in Kasaria Panchayat of Chatra district, Jharkhand. The aircraft had reportedly climbed to 6,000 feet when the pilots contacted Kolkata air traffic control seeking a weather deviation, indicating an attempt to alter course to avoid adverse conditions. Soon after, contact with the aircraft was lost.

Sensex, Nifty open lower amid tariff uncertainty and US-Iran tensions

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 opened in the red on Tuesday as investor sentiment weakened due to concerns over tariff policy uncertainty and rising US-Iran tensions. At 9:20 am, the Sensex dropped 477.74 points or 0.57% to 82,816.92, while the Nifty declined 139.30 points or 0.54% to 25,575.15.
