A disturbing crime in Lucknow has revealed a shocking sequence of events. In the early hours of February 20, a teenager is alleged to have shot dead his 49-year-old father, a pathology lab owner, in their Aashiana residence. The accused teenager is also alleged to have dismembered his father's body and attempted to get rid of the parts before being intercepted at a patrol check, according to The Times of India.
How the killing unfolded
According to the police, the crime took place at 4.30 am following a heated argument between the father and son, allegedly due to the pressure of passing the NEET, stated TOI.
According to investigators, the teenager, identified as Akshat, allegedly took his father’s licensed gun during the argument and shot him in a third-floor room. A ricochet bullet discovered at the crime scene suggests that the shooting took place at close range. The gun and the bullet have been sent for forensic analysis, as reported by The Times of India.
The police also reported that the accused teenager’s sister, a Class XI student, was present in the house at the time of the crime and was allegedly warned by the teenager not to disclose what transpired.
Body dragged, dismembered and hidden
After the shooting, Akshat allegedly dragged the body from the third floor to the ground floor. Police said he then dismembered the body, allegedly to destroy evidence and make disposal easier.
Some body parts were packed into his car and taken to Sadrauna, an isolated area on the outskirts of the city, where several remains were dumped. The head is yet to be recovered. The remaining torso was placed inside a blue plastic drum and hidden in a room at the house, police was quoted as saying by TOI.
Missing complaint raised suspicion
In an apparent attempt to mislead investigators, the teenager himself filed a missing person complaint, claiming his father had disappeared on February 20.
However, on Monday evening, police patrol officers stopped him while he was allegedly trying to dispose of the remaining torso.
"He was in the process of getting rid of the body part when we intervened. His inconsistent statements raised red flags. Strict interrogation led to his confession," DCP (Central Zone) Vikrant Vir was quoted as saying by TOI.

The police have identified the victim as a man from the Jalaun district, who after the death of his wife nine years ago, was living with his daughter and two sons. Of his two sons, one is a part of the Uttar Pradesh Police, and Akshat was running a liquor shop owned by his father and was taking home around Rs 17,000 a month, although he was reportedly dissatisfied with his life.
According to the TOI report, Akshat was a bright student in Class XII, and his father allegedly had hopes that Akshat would qualify for NEET and become a doctor.
