Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, died at the age of 38 in Lucknow on Wednesday. He was brought dead to the civil hospital in the city at around 6.15 am, according to police sources cited by NDTV.
Prateek was the husband of Aparna Yadav and stepbrother of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Family members had taken him to the hospital, while Aparna Yadav was reportedly not present at the time.
A panel of doctors at King George Medical University will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Initial observations reportedly found no visible injury marks on the body, reported NDTV.

Businessman and fitness enthusiast
Prateek Yadav was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna. He held an MBDA degree from Leeds University in the United Kingdom and was known in Lucknow’s business circles as a real estate developer.
He had also built a reputation as a fitness enthusiast. In 2016, he opened what was described as Lucknow’s first gym. Years earlier, in September 2012, he had featured on an internationally recognised bodybuilding website as "the international transformation of the month".
According to reports, Prateek had credited his fitness transformation to a motivational conversation with his father more than a decade ago. He was also associated with animal welfare initiatives and had supported efforts related to animal care and protection.
Marriage faced strain
Prateek Yadav and Aparna Yadav got married in 2011 and have two children. Earlier this year, the couple had publicly indicated trouble in their marriage and announced plans to seek divorce, though no formal separation followed.
Per NDTV, in an Instagram post, Prateek had written, “I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants to become is famous and influential,” while also alleging that she had shown little concern for his mental health.
