Punjab Kings suffer fourth straight defeat, Delhi Capitals return to winning ways

Punjab Kings are facing pressure after four straight defeats, while Delhi Capitals revived their playoff hopes with a crucial victory decorated by debutant Madhav Tiwary.

The Indian Premier League is heading towards an exciting business end and before that Punjab Kings who had not faced a single defeat in their first seven matches were looking inevitable but the luck has not gone in their favour, with straight four losses, they are now struggling to maintain their position in the top four. Defeating the Punjab Kings, the Capitals are now back on track with the crucial win and with that they are staying very much alive in the playoff race.

Delhi Capitals had lost three of the last five matches and with their last win, they have now increased their tally of points to 10. On the other hand, the Punjab Kings had remained in the same numbers from the last four matches.

What is going to be the roadmap for Punjab Kings?

To reach the magic figures for Playoffs, Punjab needed two more wins, with three matches left, Kings are very much on the line of the playoffs. After the loss, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer said, “We've been short of planning.”

With the run rate on their side, Punjab Kings led by Shreyas Iyer, need at least one win to recover from this place, as the league is now heating up and the playoff spots are still very much open, Punjab Kings need an immediate bounce back to reach the destination which they missed last year.

Delhi Capitals back on the winning track

Madhav Tiwari the debutant for Delhi who played a crucial role in Delhi’s success in the last match honoured with the man of the match trophy. Winning the very first man of the match trophy of his career he thanked the management. He also expressed that Munaf Patel has helped him very much to get into the zone.

Along with Madhav Tiwary, Axar Patel was one of the key players who scripted Delhi’s win, Axar got his first fifty of the season and scored 56 runs in 30 balls. Also, David Miller who stepped up on the right time hammered a comeback fifty to give Punjab Kings their fourth defeat with six balls to spare.
