Ranchi air ambulance crash: Jharkhand health minister directs immediate rescue, says ‘five lives at stake’

A Ranchi-Delhi air ambulance lost contact after take-off, prompting Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari to order urgent rescue efforts, saying “five lives are at stake.”

On Monday evening, an air ambulance crashed in Jharkhand's Chatra district. The crash has left one person dead. The air ambulance was operating from Ranchi to Delhi, India, Today reported.

The air ambulance lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC) at 7:34 PM and went down in a forested area of Chatra.

One person has reportedly died in the crash. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, aged 41. Kumar was a burn patient who was being transported to Delhi on the medical evacuation flight.

Health minister expresses concern

Reacting to the incident, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari said the news had deeply shaken him. In a post on X, he stated, "This heartbreaking news has shaken me to the core. Five lives are at stake. I have directed the concerned officials to take immediate necessary action and deploy every possible resource. Our priority is the safe recovery of all passengers."

"I pray to God that everyone remains safe and that relief and rescue operations succeed at the earliest. The state government is closely monitoring the situation with utmost seriousness."
