Salman Khan may soon have a new address in Mumbai after receiving approval for the construction of a six-storey residential building in Bandra. However, despite widespread speculation, there is no official confirmation that the Bollywood superstar is set to move out of Galaxy Apartments, the residence that has been synonymous with his name for decades.

The approval marks an important milestone for the project, which is expected to become the Khan family's new residential property once construction is completed.

Coastal authority clears Bandra housing project

According to NDTV, the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has approved the proposed redevelopment of a property located in Bandra's Chimbai area, only a short distance from Galaxy Apartments. The land is reportedly registered in the name of Salma Khan, Salman Khan's mother.

The existing structure on the plot, a two-storey house believed to have existed since before 1956, had earlier been demolished after being declared structurally unsafe.

According to the approved plan, the new development will include stilt parking, a ground floor and six residential levels with a total built-up area of around 1,014 square metres. The project will be undertaken by Sach Developers.

Project moves closer to construction

According to NDTV, the redevelopment had already secured an Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in October 2025. With the latest environmental clearance now in place, the project has crossed another key regulatory hurdle before construction begins.

Authorities have also attached environmental conditions to the approval. No existing trees on the site will be cut during construction, and developers have been directed to plant indigenous tree species around the property as part of the project.

Although the new building is expected to serve as a residence for the Khan family, neither Salman Khan nor his representatives has confirmed whether the actor will permanently relocate from Galaxy Apartments.

Security concerns remain a key factor

According to NDTV, the approval comes more than two years after Salman Khan's security was significantly upgraded following the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments, allegedly linked to members of the Bishnoi gang. Since then, the actor has continued to receive Y+ category security.

The new property is located on a quieter lane away from Bandra's busy main roads, a setting that could offer greater privacy and improved security compared to his current residence.
