Siya Goyal, the prime accused in the alleged murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, has reportedly made a chilling statement during police questioning, saying that ending her fiancé's life felt "easier" than telling her family she no longer wanted to marry him. The alleged confession has added a dramatic new twist to one of Maharashtra's most high-profile murder investigations, as police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding Ketan's death at Lohagad Fort earlier this month.
Investigators allege that Siya and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill Ketan during a trek on June 18 and stage the incident as an accidental fall. Both accused remain under investigation, while police continue collecting digital, forensic and witness evidence to strengthen the case.
Alleged confession reveals motive under investigation
According to NDTV, Siya allegedly admitted that she found it easier to eliminate Ketan than to confront her family about cancelling the wedding. Investigators claim she told officers that calling off the marriage would have deeply hurt her family's sentiments and affected their social standing.
While police are treating the statement as an important lead, officials have not yet disclosed whether the alleged confession has been formally recorded before a magistrate. The motive remains under investigation, with authorities examining whether family pressure and her alleged relationship with Chetan influenced the events leading to Ketan's death.
Police have also questioned Siya's parents and brother as part of the ongoing probe.

Thousands of calls and deleted chats under scrutiny
According to NDTV, investigators have intensified their digital investigation after analysing communication records between Siya and Chetan. Police claim the pair exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls between January and June, spending nearly 238 hours speaking to each other.
Authorities are now attempting to recover deleted chats, call logs and other data from both accuseds' mobile phones to establish the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are also questioning matchmakers who introduced the two families and helped finalise the engagement, hoping to understand whether there were earlier signs of resistance to the marriage.
Meanwhile, Siya's family has denied having any acquaintance with Chetan, while her legal counsel has described him only as a friend.

Investigation expands as police examine every angle
According to NDTV, police teams from Pune and Lonavala continue to investigate multiple aspects of the case, including CCTV footage, witness accounts and forensic evidence collected from Lohagad Fort. Investigators believe the evidence gathered so far points towards a planned crime rather than an accidental death, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials have indicated that additional forensic analysis and digital recovery could provide further clarity on the planning and execution of the alleged murder. As the probe progresses, authorities are expected to question more witnesses and examine financial, personal and communication records before filing a comprehensive chargesheet.
The sensational case has attracted nationwide attention, with every new revelation raising fresh questions about the alleged relationship between the accused, the circumstances surrounding the planned wedding and the events that ultimately led to Ketan Agarwal's death.
