US President Donald Trump has unveiled a rendering of a new limited-edition US passport to commemorate America's 250th anniversary of independence, with the design prominently featuring his own portrait.
Sharing the passport mock-up on his Truth Social platform on Friday, June 26, Trump wrote, "The US's New Passport, which says, 'Welcome, but be good!'"
The design shows a stern-faced Trump seated at his desk alongside his signature. Behind him is the text of the Declaration of Independence. The image appears to be based on a portrait captured by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
Reverse side honours the Declaration of Independence
The opposite page of the commemorative passport carries an artwork depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It also features the inscription "United States of America 250," marking the country's upcoming milestone anniversary.

The White House also shared the same passport rendering on social media, describing it as the "PATRIOT PASSPORT."
State Department yet to comment on the latest unveiling
The US State Department, which had earlier announced that a commemorative passport featuring "custom artwork" would be made available from July 6, did not immediately respond to a request for comment following Trump's announcement.

Earlier in April, a State Department official had said the Trump-themed passports would be offered only during in-person appointments in Washington and would remain available "for as long as there is availability."
Part of Trump's broader push to reshape government branding
The passport is the latest example of Trump placing his personal imprint on government institutions.
Banners featuring the president have appeared outside several government buildings. The Treasury Department has also said that Trump's signature will soon appear on the one-dollar bill.

Trump had also added his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts before a court ruled that it should be removed.
First sitting US president to appear on an American passport
If released as planned, Trump will become the first sitting US president to be featured in Americans' travel documents, marking another unprecedented addition to the country's official government branding as preparations continue for the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations.
