The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the retail prices of 30 drug formulations, including vitamin D3 oral solution, calcium and vitamin supplements, antidiabetic medicines, cardiovascular drugs, and antibiotics.
The order was issued on May 27, 2026.

The apothecary's arithmetic takes shape
Among the formulations covered, Vitamin D3 Oral Solution containing 60,000 IU of cholecalciferol (nanodroplet) has been priced at Rs 14.91 per mL.
NDTV Profit reported a similar vitamin D3 oral solution price of Rs 14.91 per ml for a product manufactured by Tirupati Medicare and marketed by Intas Pharmaceuticals, while another cholecalciferol oral solution has been priced at Rs 15.88 per ml.

The numbers settle for chronic care
The notification also brings several diabetes and cardiac medicines under price control.
Empagliflozin, Sitagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride Extended Release tablets have been fixed at Rs 14.88 per tablet, while Sitagliptin, Glimepiride and Metformin Hydrochloride tablets have been priced at Rs 11.91 and Rs 10.39 per tablet for different strengths.
Teneligliptin and dapagliflozin tablets will retail for Rs 10.17 per tablet. In the cardiovascular category, Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate tablets have been priced at Rs 18.46 per tablet and Bisoprolol Fumarate with Amlodipine tablets at Rs 9.40 per tablet.
From common cures to costlier capsules
Other medicines mentioned in the order include Bilastine and Montelukast tablets for allergies at Rs 21.22 each; Cefpodoxime and Potassium Clavulanate oral suspension at Rs 3.65 or Rs 5.74 per ml, depending on the strength; and Diclofenac Potassium, Paracetamol, and Serratiopeptidase tablets at Rs 10.07 each.
The highest-priced formulation in the notification is Tacrolimus Prolonged Release Capsules 3 mg, priced at Rs 127 per capsule.

The rulebook speaks with customary clarity
The price fixation applies to specific formulations classified as “new drugs” and will apply to the manufacturers and marketing companies named in the notification.
The order was issued under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, and the listed prices are exclusive of goods and services tax, which may be added only if it has actually been paid or is payable to the government.
The NPPA also said manufacturers must determine pack prices using the approved per-unit retail cost, while retailers and dealers have been directed to display price lists prominently.
