Google has launched Gemini Spark for AI Ultra subscribers in the United States, introducing a new AI-powered assistant designed to handle tasks proactively across apps, emails, documents and the web.

Unlike traditional chatbots that respond only after receiving prompts, Gemini Spark is built to work continuously in the background and automate everyday workflows.

What is Gemini Spark?

Google describes Spark as a round-the-clock personal AI agent capable of managing tasks across Google Workspace and connected applications.

The system can search through bank statements to identify recurring subscriptions, monitor emails, prepare summaries and help organise day-to-day activities.

“Gemini Spark runs on Gemini 3.5 and uses the Antigravity harness. It’s deeply integrated with the Workspace tools you rely on daily, like Gmail, Docs, Slides and more. Even better, because it is a cloud-based agent, Spark keeps working in the background even when you close your laptop or lock your phone,” Google said.

How the system works

Gemini Spark is built around three main elements: Tasks, Schedules and Skills.

Tasks define broader goals such as trip planning or inbox management. Schedules determine when actions should take place, while Skills allow users to teach Spark how to complete repeated workflows.

Together, these features allow the AI system to monitor progress, perform actions automatically and adapt to user requirements over time.

Workspace integration and browsing features

Spark is closely integrated with Google Workspace services including Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Users can manage calendars, reply to invitations, generate presentations and organise spreadsheets directly through the AI assistant.

In Gmail, Spark can search conversations, summarise email threads, draft responses and organise inbox activity.

The platform also supports remote browser access, allowing Spark to navigate websites, add products to shopping carts and carry out research tasks. Users can monitor ongoing and completed actions through a dedicated activity panel.

Google said Gemini Spark follows the same compute-based usage limits as Gemini.

Users can run up to 15 tasks simultaneously, although scheduled actions may pause if the maximum task limit has already been reached.
