The turnaround KKR as a whole is enjoying, the credit mostly goes to the young lad of Mumbai, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who is now going to be missed as the upcoming star of KKR, has ruled himself out for the remainder of the season, after sustaining a fracture in the left finger. The injury came when KKR was heading towards a safe spot in the IPL with a chance of claiming a spot in the playoffs. His injury occurred in front of the Mumbai Indians at home on Wednesday.

Sharing a post on social media, the KKR management said, “Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of 2026 TATA Indian Premier League after sustaining a concussion and a fracture to a finger on his left hand while attempting a catch during Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, 20 May.”

How did the injury happen?

During KKR’s clash against MI, youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi suffered an injury scare while keeping wickets. The incident occurred in the 11th over of Mumbai’s innings when Raghuvanshi and Varun Chakaravarthy collided while attempting a catch to dismiss Tilak Varma. Both players fell awkwardly, and the chance was eventually dropped as Chakaravarthy failed to hold on to the ball.

Raghuvanshi continued briefly after receiving attention but looked uncomfortable on the field. Following Tilak Varma’s dismissal in the 14th over, the young cricketer walked off the ground, with Tejasvi Dahiya coming in as KKR’s substitute wicketkeeper for the remainder of the match.

A big loss for KKR

The young knight has remained the highest run scorer for KKR and anchored KKR’s floated batting, scoring 422 runs so far. He has made a valuable contribution to the KKR squad. He has compiled these many runs with an average of 42.2 with a strike rate of 146.52, with five half-centuries. KKR has lost its first six games straight and won the next 6 of 7 matches straight.

Apart from the contribution of the bowlers, Raghuvanshi has remained one of the constants for the KKR. His loss ahead of the big final match could prove costly for the purple and gold as the team is now standing with 13 points, and if they manage to win the match, they will move to 15 points and with a better run rate, they can surpass the Punjab Kings, and if RR loses their last match against Mumbai Indians, they will join the three other teams in the playoffs. They will play the must-win game against the Delhi Capitals on 24th May.
