The road for the Chennai Super Kings to the playoffs has been disrupted by two straight losses; as a result, they have also lost the opportunity to reach the magic figure of 16 points. After managing to put 180 runs on the board on a tough wicket of Chepauk, CSK bowlers missed the trick against SRH, which the orange armies executed pretty well, from dipping the ball into the air to changing the pace with variation. CSK batters had to fight with mixed questions. As they can now only reach 14 points, they have to depend on the other teams. With just one playoff spot remaining, the tussle of the Playoff race is still igniting, with five teams still in the race.
The match between SRH and CSK was very important because it was meant to shape the trophy race. SRH’s win not only confirmed their playoff spot but also took the Gujarat Titans into the next phase of the tournament.
What’s now for Chennai Super Kings?
Their chances for the playoffs are like a rock waiting to fall from the cliff; the loss only complicated their fate, and they now have to depend on the other teams. The Rajasthan Royals, who are just sitting on top of the Chennai Super Kings, can only reach to 16 points. On the Tuesday night showdown, the pink army will face the challenges of the Lucknow Super Giants, who are coming with a winning momentum.

If Chennai has to stay alive in the race, they have to win the match against the Gujarat Titans and also have to hope that Rajasthan Royals lose their next two games, as well as Delhi, KKR, and PBKs have to lose their next games. The odds of the qualification are not in favour of the yellow army, and they have only 22% chances left for the playoff.
Injury and opening trouble dented CSK's hopes
Every time this year, Chennai has tried to bounce back, but they have lost their prominent players, from Ayush Mhatre, Khaleel Ahmed, Nathan Ellis, to Jamie Overton; they have lost eight players due to injury in this season.
