Delhi Capitals snapped their losing streak emphatically, pulling off a commanding seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring IPL clash in Jaipur. After three successive defeats, including a shocking collapse for 75 at home, Delhi responded with one of their most complete performances of the season to stay firmly in the playoff hunt.

Rajasthan posted a daunting total

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals lived up to Jaipur’s reputation for big totals, piling on 225/6 in 20 overs. Leading the charge was skipper Riyan Parag, who smashed a fluent 90, rediscovering form at a crucial moment amid scrutiny over his leadership and off-field controversies. His innings not only anchored the total but also helped ease mounting pressure.

Parag found strong support from Donovan Ferreira, who played a blistering, unbeaten knock of 47 off just 14 balls, injecting late momentum. Dhruv Jurel contributed a steady 42 off 30 deliveries, ensuring Rajasthan maintained a high scoring rate throughout. With the ball, Mitchell Starc stood out for the Delhi Capitals, picking up three wickets despite conceding runs. Support came from Kyle Jamieson, T Natarajan, and Axar Patel with one wicket each.

Delhi’s clinical chase seals turnaround

Chasing 226, the Delhi Capitals laid the perfect foundation through Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul, who stitched together a 110-run opening stand. Nissanka set the tone with a brisk 62 off 33 balls, while Rahul anchored the innings with a composed 75 off 40 deliveries.

Rahul’s effort was particularly noteworthy, having kept wickets for the full 20 overs before delivering with the bat. Though Jofra Archer eventually dismissed him, the damage had already been done. After the openers departed, Nitish Rana added a quick 33 before Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma combined for an unbeaten 49-run stand to seal the chase with five balls remaining.

This victory marked a significant turnaround for Delhi, who not only chased down 226—their highest successful IPL chase—but also rebounded strongly from their earlier batting collapse. The win lifted them to sixth place with eight points from nine matches, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals remained fourth with 12 points from 10 games.
