PM Modi inaugurates the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway ANI The newly opened Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh will remain toll-free for the first 15 days, offering a short window of cost-free travel for commuters. The announcement came on Labour Day from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, shortly after the expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29.
The 594-kilometre-long corridor links Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh with Prayagraj in the east. Built as a high-speed, access-controlled expressway, it is expected to ease long-distance travel and improve connectivity between key regions of the state. The route is also seen as a significant infrastructure addition that could support economic activity along its stretch.
How much can travellers save?
With toll collection temporarily suspended, motorists can travel the entire stretch without paying any charges during this initial period. Based on the prevailing toll rate of Rs 2.55 per kilometre for cars and jeeps on similar expressways, a full journey between Prayagraj and Meerut could lead to savings of around Rs 1,515 per trip.

With its initial toll-free period, the Ganga Expressway is set to see strong early usage from both private and commercial travellers.
