Mumbai Indians, the five-time champion of IPL, has cast a shadow on their legacy. Things that have been done right for years are suddenly not happening this year, and that is only hurting them to their core. A team built on showing much young talent has failed to stand up when needed. The blue army, under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, is going through some serious problems, and it is not only a management issue. They have a really good Indian core on which they have relied and gained success over the years, but this season the Indian core has backfired on them. In a tournament like IPL, finding the right balance as fast as possible is important, but the Mumbai Indians failed to get the rhythm and injury in the middle of the season backfired on them a lot.

Here are the key reasons for Mumbai’s slump

Indian players did not play well- In a tournament like IPL, every game sets the tone, and the movement of every player matters; the Indian players failed to contribute. Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma no player has shown great rhythm throughout the season.

Not only the batters, but also Indian bowlers like Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, and Ashwani Kumar have failed to come into a rhythm to do well for them.

Mid-season injuries- The injuries of the Mumbai Indians have cost them really big, the absence of Rohit Sharma also the absence of Will Jacks till the 7th game of the season cost them big also Santner and Quinton De Kock had injured themselves in the middle of the season. Santner has ruled out, and in his place, Keshav Maharaj came as a replacement.

No spark from young lads- Mumbai Indians are known for making the stars. Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma are their only latest additions who are doing well in the last three to four years; other than that, any other young lad has not been able to come and do well.

Not able to maximise the powerplay – Both in batting and bowling, the Blues have not come together in the powerplay. In the powerplay, they conceded most of the runs, and in batting, they failed to maximise the gear.

These are the reasons for the Mumbai Indians' slump in the season.
