BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the playoff schedule for the 2026 season will be officially released within the next two days. He emphasised that the board is taking careful steps to ensure the league’s reputation and smooth execution are maintained during the closing stages.
Venues unclear as league nears final stretch
However, details surrounding the venues remain undisclosed for now. Saikia refrained from confirming locations despite repeated queries, indicating that the final decision is still under consideration. Earlier reports had suggested that Bengaluru and New Chandigarh were leading contenders to host the playoff matches, but no formal confirmation has been issued.

The league stage itself had an unusual rollout this season, with the schedule released in phases due to election-related constraints. Now, as the tournament enters its final stretch with 26 matches remaining, anticipation continues to build. Notably, there will be no Saturday double-headers in May, with such fixtures reserved exclusively for Sundays, adding a structured rhythm to the closing weeks of what has already been a compelling IPL campaign.
