With election results set to be announced at dawn, weather conditions across West Bengal are expected to turn unstable. From Sunday, multiple districts in South Bengal may witness a rise in storm activity and rainfall. The weather department has indicated a strong likelihood of nor’westers, thunderstorms and even hail in parts of both South and North Bengal over the next two days, Sunday and Monday. A specific alert has been issued for Malda, raising concerns about possible disruptions during vote counting.
Kolkata is likely to see a mix of sunshine and cloud cover through Sunday morning. However, weather conditions may shift later in the day, with chances of scattered thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon or evening.
The minimum temperature in the city is expected to be 32.0 degrees Celsius, which is 3.4 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature may reach 22.4 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees below normal. Rainfall activity is likely to pick up pace from Monday afternoon. Forecasts suggest moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, with a strong possibility of nor’westers impacting the city.

South Bengal on alert: Gusty winds and widespread rain
Several districts in South Bengal are likely to experience weather conditions. Bankura, East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Jhargram may witness thunderstorms and rain on Sunday. Wind speeds in these regions could reach between 50 and 60 kmph.
Conditions are expected to worsen on Monday, coinciding with vote counting. Alerts have been issued for Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Bardhaman, Howrah, Hooghly, Bankura and West Midnapore. Most districts may experience thunderstorms with rain and gusty winds touching 60 kmph.

North Bengal: Heavy rain warning in several areas
Rain activity is also expected to intensify in North Bengal. Jalpaiguri is under a heavy rainfall alert for Sunday. Other districts, including the hill regions, may see widespread thunderstorms and rain over the next two days.
With unstable weather conditions forecast across the state, authorities and residents may need to stay alert as Bengal heads into a crucial counting day.
