Following the Kolkata High Court's directive, the School Service Commission will have to conduct another round of document verification and interviews in the Class XI-XII teacher recruitment process. As a result, the merit list for Class XI-XII teacher recruitment may not be released on January 7. However, while applying to the Supreme Court for extending the service tenure of 'qualified' teachers from 2016, SSC had informed that the Class XI-XII merit list would be released on January 7.
Again, document verification for Class IX-X recruitment was supposed to begin on December 29.
But it is believed that the document verification process for Class IX-X may be further delayed due to the document verification and interviews of 150 candidates for Class XI-XII. In an affidavit submitted to the apex court, SSC stated that the Class IX-X merit list would be published by March 30. The document verification and interviews of those 150 candidates for Class XI-XII may take place on December 29.

Candidates may face further waiting
According to SSC, Justice Debangsu Basak's Division Bench of Kolkata High Court had directed on December 16 that job aspirants who could not update their category within the specified time should be given that opportunity, and 24 hours should be given for that purpose. Accordingly, the commission gave those candidates time to update their category until 8:30 PM on December 17. As a result, 150 new candidates applied. They are all petitioners.

SSC Chairman Siddhartha Majumdar says, "Following the court's directive, we have to verify information of over a hundred job aspirants and conduct interviews. The merit list will be published only after this process is completed."
Consequently, it is practically impossible to publish the Class XI-XII teacher recruitment merit list by January 7, according to commission sources.
The commission has conducted recruitment examinations for 35 subjects in Classes XI and XII. Among these 150 applicants, there are candidates from various subjects. Separate expert committees will have to be formed to conduct their interviews and lecture-demonstrations.
