Who was Ezrela Dalidia Fanai? Journalist found dead at her home in Aizawl

Freelance journalist Ezrela Dalidia Fanai was found dead at her Aizawl home on Christmas. She was known for reporting on Mizoram and the Northeast for national media outlets.

A journalist was found dead in her home in Aizawl on Christmas. Ezrela Dalidia Fanai was a freelance journalist based in Mizoram. She had worked with various national media organisations. She lived alone in her home after her mother passed away in July, police said.

The Hindu reported that she was answering phone calls until Wednesday (December 24) morning. But Fanai did not respond to the youths of a local church when they came looking for her. The church had planned to organise a Christmas Carol at Fanai's home on Wednesday night.

When her relatives were unable to contact her by phone on Christmas morning, they, along with locals, forced open the door of the house and found her lying dead on the floor, police said. According to her relatives and colleagues, she had been battling depression after her mother's death. Locals also claimed that several alcohol bottles were found near her body, The Hindu reported.

Who was Ezrela Dalidia Fanai?

Ezrela Dalidia Fanai had worked with several national media houses, including India Today, NDTV, and EastMojo. A member of the Mizoram Journalists' Association, Fanai was known for reporting from Mizoram and the Northeast.
