The Sultanate of Oman has announced its plans to create approximately 60,000 jobs in 2026. This drive is aimed at strengthening employment opportunities and attracting talent across multiple industries. The initiative comes as the oil-rich Gulf nation diversifies its economy and works to meet both local and international labour demand.

Massive job creation drive amid economic diversification

According to The Times of India, the officials in Oman have revealed the job push in 2026. The push aligns with broader economic reforms planned to reduce reliance on oil revenues and facilitate sustainable growth in non-hydrocarbon sectors. Oman’s leadership is underscoring investment in transportation, tourism, manufacturing, IT, healthcare and education, each of which is expected to absorb a significant share of the new roles.

This recruitment expansion also occurs simultaneously with large-scale infrastructure and development projects underway in the country, comprising logistics hubs, special economic zones and digital transformation initiatives.

Job openings

10,000 jobs in the government sector, covering civil, military and security roles based on real workforce needs. 17,000 jobs through government support tracks, including wage support schemes, training‑linked employment and on‑the‑job learning programmes designed to enhance job readiness and sustainable workforce entry.

33,000 jobs in the private sector, making it the primary driver of employment and economic growth. These span major and diversified sectors such as industry, oil and gas, transport and logistics, tourism, banking, health, education, real estate, IT, telecommunications, food security, mining, retail and construction.

Who can apply and what to expect

While specific job openings have not been fully listed yet, government and private entities in Oman are expected to begin rolling out detailed vacancy announcements over the coming months. Many roles are likely to target skilled expatriate workers, especially those with experience in specialised sectors. Salaries in the Gulf often come with added benefits—such as housing allowances, healthcare coverage and tax-free pay.
