The Supreme Court extended the service tenure of 'eligible' teachers from the School Service Commission (SSC). The 'eligible' teachers who are currently employed can continue working until August 31, as directed by the Division Bench led by Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kumar. At the same time, the overall deadline for completing the recruitment process was also extended.
The deadline for the recruitment process for classes IX-X and XI-XII was extended from December 31 to August 31.
The Board of Secondary Education had applied to extend the service tenure of SSC 'eligible' teachers whose jobs were cancelled by the Supreme Court order. The apex court responded to that application. As a result of this directive, the 'eligible' teachers will receive salaries until August 31.

The 2016 SSC panel was dismissed by the Supreme Court order. The board applied to the Supreme Court last week, stating that the new SSC recruitment process would extend beyond May 2026. Therefore, the service tenure of the 'eligible' teachers should be extended until September. The Supreme Court granted permission until August on this day.
