Actor Rajpal Yadav will have to spend at least four more nights in Tihar Jail as the Delhi High Court postponed his bail hearing until Monday, February 16. The court raised concerns about Yadav reopening the case after not fulfilling his commitment.
As per a Hindustan Times report, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma told Rajpal Yadav that he had assured the court on multiple occasions that he would pay back the loan but he did not make any deposits.

The court noted that the actor ended up in jail for not keeping his promise made in court. "You did not go to jail because the Court passed an order. You went to jail because you failed to meet your own commitments to the Court," Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma stated, as reported by Bar and Bench. "You were not giving the money because the Court asked you to; you were giving the money because you entered into a settlement," the Justice added.
Two different statements made by actor's lawyer
After hearing Rajpal Yadav's bail application at 1 pm, Justice Swarana Sharma noted that the actor's lawyer had made two different statements in Court. At first, it was mentioned that the money would go directly to the complainant, which Yadav confirmed. However, in a later statement, his lawyer said the amount would be deposited with the Court instead.
Justice Sharma postponed the matter and instructed the actor's lawyer to decide clearly. The next hearing is set for 2:30 pm.
When the matter came up for hearing again at 2,30 pm, Rajpal's counsel told the court, "I tried contacting him but wasn't able to. I have filed a bail application. A response from the other side may be sought. The matter may be adjourned to Monday. I will come up with something by then."
Upon hearing this, the court adjourned the case to Monday and directed the complainant to file a reply to the bail application, reported The Indian Express.
The court further observed, "When I was going through the file, there were so many things we didn't even know. They have challenged the first order before the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court did not grant them any relief. Anyway, we will take it up on Monday."
Notice issued to Murli Projects Company
The court also sent a notice to Murli Projects Company, which loaned Yadav Rs 5 crore in 2010 for his debut film, 'Ata Pata Lapataa'. The issue involves nearly Rs 9 crore that Yadav is accused of not repaying. During the hearing, Yadav's lawyers requested more time from the court, explaining they needed to get instructions from him regarding the payment.
How much did Rajpal Yadav earn from his last five projects?
According to The Indian Express, Rajpal Yadav received only 4 per cent of Varun Dhawan's reported earnings for 'Baby John'. Rajpal is believed to have made Rs 1 crore for his role in the 2024 film. He reportedly earned Rs 1 crore each for 'Kathal', 'Dream Girl' and 'Baby John'. For 'Chandu Champion', he is thought to have earned Rs 2 crore, while for 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', his fee was said to be between Rs 2 and 3 crore. In total, this adds up to Rs 7-8 crore.
