You've given up sweets. But you can't eliminate sugar from your life. Sugar is somehow entering your body through food. Do you know where and how sugar hides?

You can't tell with the naked eye how much sugar is in any food or drink. So before buying from the store, you can read the label written on the packet.

Do you have a habit of drinking bottled fruit juice, colored drinks, soda, instant coffee-tea? Instead, you can drink coconut water, sugarcane or other fruit juices. Make tea-coffee at home instead of buying from the store.

Choose whole fruits instead of fruit juice. Nutritionists say that eating whole fruits delivers fiber to the body along with juice, which can absorb excess sugar floating in the blood.

Stop eating cakes, pastries, flour-based foods, and biscuits. Instead, you can eat cookies made with fruits, oats or grains. Sugar spikes won't increase.

Granola and breakfast cereals with artificial sweeteners are not good for health. Instead, you can include snacks made with oats, millet, jowar-bajra-ragi in your diet.

Try to eat home-cooked food. Restaurant or packaged foods contain sufficient amounts of sugar. However, it remains hidden, which is not easily detected by the naked eye.

If you must add sweetness to cooking, you can use jaggery, honey or dates instead of sugar. But in moderate amounts.

If you crave sweets, you can drink quite a bit of water. To suppress such desires, you have to be very strong. You have to counsel yourself without taking help from others.
