Spring has arrived, and nature is slowly waking up in a burst of colours. Trees that stood bare through winter are now covered with bright blooms. The vibrant red of palash and shimul flowers paints the landscape, while the mountains come alive with rhododendrons, orchids and many other wild blossoms. It is a season when the air feels lighter, the weather turns pleasant and every journey seems a little more magical.
Travelling during spring carries a special charm. The mild weather makes it the perfect time to step outdoors and explore nature without the harsh cold of winter or the intense heat of summer. Gentle walks, short hikes and easy treks become more enjoyable as the surroundings transform into a colourful canvas of flowers and greenery.

For those who enjoy staying close to nature, spring offers the perfect opportunity to plan a peaceful getaway. Whether it is wandering through forests filled with blooming trees or trekking through mountain trails lined with rhododendrons, the season creates an unforgettable travel experience. And if you have strong knees and a love for the outdoors, a short hike or trek during this time can make the journey even more rewarding.
But where should you travel to truly experience the beauty of spring?
Here are three destinations where nature is at its most vibrant during this season.
Dhotre-Tumling
In spring, Sandakphu gets adorned with rhododendrons. However, if you don't have strong knees, climbing to 3,636 meters becomes challenging. Instead, go for a short hike. Start walking from Dhotre village near Manebhanjan. Follow the path through rhododendron forests to reach Tonglu. From there, walk a little more and you'll reach Tumling. The next day you can descend via Meghma to Chitre or Gurdum. Throughout this two-day journey, rhododendrons and Kanchenjunga will be your companions.

Biharinath Hill
It's not only in Singalila's forests that you can hike. South Bengal also has hiking trails. You can go trekking to Biharinath Hill in Bankura as well. In spring, various parts of Bankura get adorned with palash and shimul flowers. This beauty can be enjoyed from atop Biharinath Hill. It's about a 3-kilometre route. Greenery will be your companion throughout the path. Since the height is only 1,485 feet, anyone can do this hike. Apart from spring, this trek can be done in winter and monsoon as well.
