Birth of Bertolt Brecht (1898)

German dramatist Bertolt Brecht was born on this day in 1898. Brecht would go on to become one of the most influential theatre practitioners of the 20th century, known for reshaping modern drama through politically charged works and the concept of epic theatre.

Kasparov vs Deep Blue (1996)

On this day in 1996, world chess champion Garry Kasparov began a six-game match against Deep Blue, a chess-playing computer developed by IBM. Kasparov won the match 4–2, marking a historic moment in human-versus-machine competition, although Deep Blue would defeat him in a rematch the following year.

Death of Arthur Miller (2005)

Renowned American playwright Arthur Miller died in 2005 at the age of 89. Celebrated as one of the most important dramatists of the mid-20th century, Miller was best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning play Death of a Salesman.

Teddy Day is celebrated every year on February 10 as the fourth day of Valentine’s Week, giving people a chance to share love and warmth with their special ones. The day traces its origin to a 1902 incident involving US President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, who refused to shoot a captured bear during a hunting trip. This act of compassion later inspired a New York toymaker to create the first “Teddy Bear.”
