Exploding mobile sparks chaos inside Siuri Sadar Hospital pediatric unit, no injuries reported

A mobile phone exploded inside the pediatric ward of Siuri Sadar Hospital on Tuesday, triggering panic among parents. No casualties were reported, hospital officials said.

A mobile phone explosion inside the pediatric ward of Siuri Sadar Hospital on Tuesday morning triggered panic among patients’ families. At the time of the explosion, the main gate of the pediatric ward was locked from outside, which intensified the confusion.

Nurses on duty later unlocked the gate and brought the situation under control. However, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Mobile explodes while charging inside pediatric ward

According to sources, the mother of a child admitted to the hospital had put her keypad mobile phone on charge. After charging, she placed the phone on the pillow of an adjacent empty bed. Moments later, the mobile suddenly exploded.

Startled, the woman threw the phone onto the floor. Smoke began to emanate from the device, causing panic among other parents present in the ward. As fear spread, parents rushed to leave the ward with their children.

Since the main gate was locked at that moment, no one could exit immediately. After the nurses unlocked the gate, everyone moved out of the ward safely.

Hospital cites violation of mobile usage rules

Upon being informed, hospital security personnel reached the spot and removed the exploded mobile phone from the ward. After the situation stabilised, parents returned to the pediatric ward with their children.

Hospital authorities stated that there are strict rules regarding the charging and use of mobile phones inside the ward. Siuri Hospital Superintendent Prakash Bag said, “Many people secretly bring mobiles inside the ward. This incident occurred due to slight carelessness.” He added that other aspects of the incident are being examined by the hospital administration.
