The 14-year-old prodigy and only one of his kind Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 14 sixes and scored 171 runs in just 91 balls in the opening match of the U-19 Asia Cup against the United Arab Emirates. The match was played at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.
Batting first, the Indian team put 433 runs on board in 50 overs, captain Ayush Mathre failed to give a solid opening and departed back scoring just 4 runs, after Vaibhav, Aaron George, and Vihaan Malhotra smashed half-centuries, scoring 69 runs each. Vedant Trivedi and Abhigyan Kundu played cameos to help the team score past 400.

In reply UAE only made 199 runs in 50 overs and lost the match by 234 runs. In the UAE Uddish Suri gave a tough fight and scored 78 runs. Prithvi Madhu also played a 50-run innings.
A day of record day for Vaibhav
In this match India’s youth sensation broke a 17 year old record for most sixes in a youth ODI innings.The record was earlier held with Michael Hill who smashed 12 sixes during his 124 run knock against Namibia in 2008. However, he failed to surpass the highest score in youth cricket. In 2002 Rayudu scored 177 runs against England.
Vaibhav is retained by RR this season and it is expected that he will open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
