Bangladesh Premier League begins with set setback as Shariful Islam taken to hospital after sustaining head injury

Shariful is playing for Chattogram Royals in the Bangladesh Premier League. Chattogram started their first match in the BPL with a victory. They defeated Noakhali by 65 runs.

After many obstacles and difficulties, the Bangladesh Premier League has begun. Bangladesh's political instability and incidents like franchise owners leaving before the league started have occurred. In this situation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has started the Bangladesh Premier League. The situation was such that the BCB did not receive the trophy until before the BPL started. Now, in the middle of the BPL, pacer Shariful Islam suffered a head injury.

Shariful is playing for Chattogram Royals in the Bangladesh Premier League. During practice, Shariful sustained a head injury after colliding with a cricketer. Shariful was injured during practice at 12 noon. After that, he was not kept in practice and was taken to the hospital for a physical examination. However, after all reports came back normal, he was discharged. He returned from the hospital to the hotel.

Chattogram Royals mentor Habibul Bashar told Prothom Alo that the injury is not very serious. Since it hit the head, he was taken to the hospital. Now he has returned to the hotel again.

Chattogram started their first match in the BPL with a victory. They defeated Noakhali by 65 runs. There, Shariful took two wickets, giving away only 14 runs in three overs.

However, a bad incident occurred at the start of the BPL. Before the third match, Dhaka Capitals' assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki suddenly fell ill and collapsed on the field at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during player preparations before the match. When taken to the hospital, he breathed his last. He had suffered a heart attack.
