The DC School Cup is a two-week competition that will start on December 8th and go on till December 23rd. This tournament aims to scout cricketers at the grassroots level in the national capital. DC School Cup

The inaugural edition of the Delhi School Cup will be played between 18 schools across the national capital. The school teams, both boys and girls, will be competing for the top honours of the tournament. This tournament looks forward to providing a meaningful competitive platform across the categories and also strengthening Delhi Capitals’ broader goals concerning scouting at the grassroots level. Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, spoke to ANI, mentioning that “at Delhi Capitals, our mission is to create a Pathway to Excellence for young players, and the DC School Cup is another step in that direction. The initiative reflects our commitment to engage with schools and nurture budding cricketers at the grassroots level. At the same time, it is about deepening our engagement with Delhi as a city and embedding ourselves further into the cultural fabric. School cricket is a vibrant part of Delhi’s sporting identity, and through this tournament, we hope to celebrate that spirit while giving young cricketers the platform they truly deserve. We look forward to strengthening the cricketing ecosystem in Delhi.”

The format and the team division

The DC School Cup (boys) will follow a T20 format of cricket where there are 16 participating teams divided into groups of four. Each team will play the other teams of their respective groups, like the usual round-robin format. The top teams from each group will reach the semi-finals, and the champions of the semi-finals will play the finals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. There will be a total of 27 matches, which will span across 10 business days across two venues and two games per day. The standout performers from both tournaments will earn a direct opportunity to take part in the state-level trials, which will help build a talent pipeline for Delhi Cricket.
