India delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, clinching the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead. The victory also marked Shreyas Iyer’s first bilateral T20I series win as India’s captain.

India wins first series under Shreyas Iyer

After being put in to bat, India overcame an early setback through a superb partnership between Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma. Kishan top-scored with a blistering 81 off 44 balls, smashing nine fours and two sixes, while Tilak remained unbeaten on 60 from just 29 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes.

The duo added 94 runs for the fourth wicket to lift India after early wickets had left the visitors under pressure. Captain Shreyas Iyer contributed a useful 25 as India posted an imposing 219/5 in 20 overs.

India thrash Zimbabwe with complete domination

Zimbabwe struggled throughout the chase and never threatened India’s total. Brian Bennett was the top scorer for the hosts with 32, but regular wickets kept them firmly on the back foot.

Debutant Yash Thakur claimed his maiden international wicket, while Prince Yadav picked up two wickets before walking off with a hamstring injury. Ravi Bishnoi also struck, and Tilak Varma chipped in with the wicket of Ryan Burl.

The result handed India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and gave Shreyas Iyer his maiden T20I series triumph as captain. After excelling with both bat and ball, India will now aim to complete a 3-0 whitewash when the two sides meet in the third and final T20I on Sunday.
