Shreyas Iyer is all set to attend the IPL Auction and will be in the hot seat for the first time. On Wednesday, the IPL franchises submitted the names of representatives who are going to attend the meeting, as December 10 was the last day for submission. Shreyas Iyer is now out of action from competitive cricket for his injury, which he sustained in the 3rd ODI match in Australia.

Cricbuzz cited BCCI sources who claimed that the Punjab Kings have submitted their captain's name on the list. According to BCCI guidelines for the auction, a maximum of eight team members are permitted inside the auction hall, with an extra six allowed outside.

The Indian ODI vice-captain will be there on 16th December in place of Ricky Ponting, who is now assigned commentary duties for seven networks in the Ashes. The Adelaide test is going to begin on 17th December, the very next day of the auction. Also, sources confirmed that Commentary duties are not the only reason for Ponting’s missing out. PBKS has 11,5 crores in their bag and have to fill four slots, including two overseas players.

Daniel Vettori is all set to join the SRH table

According to Cricbuzz, Daniel Vettori will attend the auction despite having commitments with the Ashes. A spokesperson from Cricket Australia informed Cricbuzz that the arrangement will be similar to last year, when he was allowed to participate in the auction in Jeddah while the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was ongoing. Australian big names like Justin Langer and Tom Moody are all set to join their respective teams.
