The Celebrity Cricket League saw an exceptional run chase by the Bengal Tigers as they beat Mumbai Heroes by four wickets. The Tigers chased Mumbai's 200-run target in 19.1 overs, and scored 203/6 to win the match.

The Bengal vs Mumbai clash

Saqib Saleem and Shabbir Ahluwalia opened for Mumbai. Saleem had to depart after scoring just 17. Ahluwalia's 57 runs and Navdeep Tomar's 43 runs propelled Mumbai Heroes to a promising total of 199 runs at a loss of 6 wickets.

The Tigers' run chase started with several speed breakers as the team lost 3 wickets within 30 runs. But Jammy Banerjee's fiery 97-run knock turned fortunes in Bengal's favour. Rahul's bombastic 44 off 20 balls proved to be an essential breather for Bengal. Along with him, Ratnadeep's 18 not out off 9 secured the victory for the Tigers. Jammy's knock essentially won the match for Bengal, despite falling short of a century. He was awarded the Player of the Match award.

'It was a brilliant experience'

In an exclusive conversation with News Ei Samay, the star of the show, Jammy Banerjee, said, "It was a very tough game. Mumbai played exceptionally well. They bowled really well. We scored just 30 runs in the first six powerplay overs, and chasing down 200 from that spot was a near-impossible task. But, we did it."

"It was a brilliant experience, a brilliant match, and we started the tournament with a win. We have two matches left. We wish to bring the trophy home," Banerjee added.
