A fresh controversy has erupted during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup after South African batter David Miller accused the International Cricket Council of favouring England in post-tournament travel arrangements. The allegation surfaced on social media and quickly triggered a debate among fans and former cricketers about fairness in the tournament’s logistics.

Daren Sammy questions ICC's arrangements, Miller joins in

The issue began when teams eliminated from the tournament were awaiting arrangements to return home. According to reports, England was provided with a charter flight soon after their exit, while other teams, such as South Africa and the West Indies, reportedly had to wait longer for travel arrangements.

Reacting to the development, Miller took to social media and wrote sarcastically - “Funny that England gets eliminated after West Indies and South Africa and gets on a charter back home tonight.” His remark hinted at possible preferential treatment being given to England, sparking widespread discussion online. The controversy gained further traction when West Indies head coach Daren Sammy echoed Miller’s frustration. Responding to the post, Sammy appeared to support the sentiment, urging the South African batter to say it “a little louder for those in the back.”

Sammy had earlier expressed frustration over the delay faced by the West Indies squad in arranging their travel after being knocked out of the tournament.

Debate over fairness, ICC faces major backlash

While the ICC has yet to respond to the allegations, this incident has sparked renewed debate about transparency and fairness in global cricket tournaments. Several fans and analysts on social media echoed the concerns raised by David Miller and supported by Daren Sammy, suggesting that tournament organisers must ensure the same level of facilities and arrangements for all participating teams. Others, however, argued that logistical decisions such as charter flights may depend on factors like availability, travel routes and scheduling rather than deliberate favouritism.
