Virat Kohli creates history in Ranchi, breaks Tendulkar’s home century record

Virat Kohli etched his name in cricket history by scoring his 52nd ODI century during the first match against South Africa in Ranchi.

India’s cricket icon Virat Kohli broke a major world record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar during the first ODI against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Kohli made history by hitting his 52nd ODI century in the series opener against the Proteas.

With this milestone, Kohli surpassed Tendulkar’s long-standing record for the most centuries in a single format of international cricket. Until now, both were tied at 51. Tendulkar had scored his 51 hundreds in Test cricket.

1 — Virat Kohli: 52 centuries in ODIs

2 — Sachin Tendulkar: 51 centuries in Tests

3 — Sachin Tendulkar: 49 centuries in ODIs

4 — Jacques Kallis: 45 centuries in Tests

5 — Ricky Ponting: 41 centuries in Tests
