The last three weeks of cricket world was filled with curiosity as the whole world is looking towards Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup which remained in question, as they had requested the ICC to change their venue from India after three weeks of schedule announcement, the dispute started from a decision by the BCCI, when they asked the KKR franchise to remove Mustafizur Rahaman from their squad of 2026 amid political tensions. Now reports are coming that if the BCB deny to play in India in the 21st January meeting, Scotland will take their place.

If the BCB stayed firm on their stand while ICC continuously tried to convince them, the supreme body of cricket issued an advisory for each team which reads that the security concerns in India will stay moderate, though any direct threat has not been confirmed by the ICC.
What is the stance of Scotland?
Though the Scotland board has not confirmed anything yet. According to a BBC report, the ICC has not made any contact with Cricket Scotland regarding this matter.
In 2009, when the Zimbabwe team pulled out of the T20 World Cup held in England, Scotland was given the chance to participate.
What is the situation now?
Notably, last Saturday when ICC officials went to Dhaka to meet with BCB officials, they asked ICC officials to swap their group with Ireland. Ireland has been placed in Group C alongside Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Australia and Oman, while Bangladesh is placed in Group B along with England, Italy, Nepal and the West Indies.

A decision over Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup is going to be finalised on 21st January in Dhaka. According to ESPNCricinfo, ICC has asked the Bangladesh cricket board to finalise their decision on 21st January. After that, ICC will go in another direction if BCB stays firm on its ground.
