Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has landed in trouble ahead of major international assignments. A self-proclaimed Hindutva organisation, Karni Sena, has filed an FIR against the KKR star batter, alleging that he hurt Hindu religious sentiments. A complaint has been lodged at the Aligarh police station in Uttar Pradesh, and the police have begun investigating the matter.

What was in Rinku Singh’s video?
Rinku Singh had shared a video on his Instagram account that was created using AI. The video shows Rinku hitting sixes one after another, with a text above reading, “Who made you a cricketer?” In the next frame, Hanumanji is seen driving a car wearing dark sunglasses, while Shiva, Ganesha and Vishnu are seated beside him. In other words, the video suggests that he became a cricketer because of God. Rinku later deleted the video.
FIR filed, World Cup preparations in focus
Sumit Tomar, district president of Karni Sena in Aligarh, said that the video featuring Hindu deities shared by Rinku Singh hurt public sentiments. On behalf of the organisation, he demanded action against the cricketer, following which the police initiated an investigation.
Rinku Singh is part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Before that, he is set to play in a five-match T20 series against New Zealand. However, the FIR has added fresh trouble ahead of the tournament.

Rinku Singh is considered an important player for India in the T20 World Cup. He has delivered strong performances in T20 cricket for India so far. In two ODIs, he has scored 55 runs. In 35 T20 matches, he has accumulated 550 runs at an average of 42.30, including three half-centuries.
