Cricket fans are now focused on the India-South Africa series or the Ashes. Meanwhile, excitement is building around the upcoming IPL auction. The IPL mini auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Franchises will compete to acquire star cricketers like Cameron Green, Matheesha Pathirana, and Liam Livingstone. Amidst this, Australian star batter Josh Inglis has come into discussion. He will play only four matches in the upcoming IPL. He gave a clear message about this before the auction.

Why will Josh Inglis play only four matches?

The maximum base price for cricketers in this IPL auction has been set at ₹2 crore. A total of 43 foreign cricketers are in this category. Josh Inglis is also among them. He was in excellent form for the Punjab Kings last season. Multiple reports revealed that Punjab had plans to retain him this time as well. However, he informed them that he has wedding plans during the time when IPL 2026 will be held. Therefore, Punjab did not retain Inglis.

However, by participating in the auction, he has also clarified his position to the remaining franchises. Through BCCI, he sent a message to the teams that he can play only 25 percent, meaning no more than four matches, in the upcoming IPL. The teams that were planning to acquire this star cricketer received a major shock even before the auction.

However, Inglis is not alone – four other foreign cricketers have also informed BCCI about this matter.

Reports reveal that 'Australia's Ashton Agar (65 percent) and William Sutherland (80 percent) have informed about how much they can play in the upcoming IPL. The list includes South Africa's Riley Russo (20 percent) and New Zealand's Adam Milne (95 percent).'

Therefore, experts believe there will be even more intense competition in the auction for Smith, Green and others.
