Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has been admitted to a hospital in São Paulo due to heart-related issues. Reports say he has undergone heart surgery and is now in stable condition.

The 52-year-old is regarded as one of the greatest full-backs in football history. He was part of Brazil's World Cup-winning squad in 2002 and enjoyed immense success at club level with Real Madrid, winning the UEFA Champions League titles in 1998, 2000, and 2002.

Carlos's heart trouble

According to Spanish media, Roberto Carlos had initially gone for a routine medical check-up related to his leg, during which an MRI scan was conducted. Preliminary findings revealed signs of heart trouble, including blood clots in multiple areas. A detailed report later confirmed that his heart was not functioning properly. Doctors immediately advised hospitalisation, and his family decided to proceed with surgery without taking any risks.
