FC Barcelona claimed the Spanish Super Cup with a narrow 3–2 win over Real Madrid in a high-intensity El Clásico final that delivered drama until the final whistle. Monday morning remained one of the happiest days of this year for Barcelona fans. The whole world waited for the big fight. It was the straight fourth final for Barca in the Supercopa de España. They got a place in their 28th final by defeating Athletic Club, and Real Madrid joined them by defeating Atletico Madrid in the semis.

Here are three key factors from the finals-

Midfield control sets the tone

Barcelona imposed themselves early by dominating possession and dictating the rhythm of the game. Their midfield control allowed them to circulate the ball patiently, stretch Real Madrid’s defensive lines, and create sustained attacking pressure, particularly during the opening phases of the contest. Barca played complete football; on the other hand, Real Madrid’s attacking approach made them lose the ball many times. In this final, Barca completed 608 passes with a 92% accuracy, while Madrid passed the ball 240 times with just a 79 % accuracy. These statistics, in a way, showed that the approach Real Madrid has was not really suit the condition.

Raphinha Delivers in the Big Moment

The decisive influence came from Raphinha, whose all-action display defined the final. Beyond scoring the winning goal, the winger’s pressing, tracking back, and attacking intent proved crucial in tipping the balance in Barcelona’s favour during key moments.

Barcelona's defence needs to be improved

While Barcelona celebrated the trophy, defensive vulnerabilities were again exposed. On two occasions, lapses in concentration allowed Real Madrid back into the match, underlining an ongoing issue that the coaching staff will need to address despite the positive result.

The win hands Barcelona yet another Supercopa de España title, and extends their edge over Real Madrid in the competition. More significantly, it reinforces Barcelona’s ability to deliver under pressure in marquee fixtures as the season gathers momentum.
