Bihar government honors Ishan Kishan with Rs 1 crore: Here's why

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan received a grand honor from the Bihar government after playing a major role in India’s triumph at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary felicitated the cricketer with a cash reward of Rs 1 crore at his residence and praised him for making the state proud on the global stage.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary personally honoured Ishan Kishan for his contribution to India’s victorious ICC T20 World Cup campaign. Sharing photos from the meeting on social media, the Chief Minister described Ishan as Bihar’s pride and congratulated him for his outstanding achievement in international cricket.

In his post, Choudhary stated that the Bihar government awarded Ishan Rs 1 crore for playing an important role in helping India lift the T20 World Cup trophy. Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Pratyay Amrit and Deepak Kumar, were also present during the felicitation ceremony.

On the same day, Bihar pacer Shakib Hussain also met the Chief Minister. The youngster recently made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the same franchise represented by Ishan Kishan in the ongoing IPL season.

Ishan starred in India’s World Cup-winning campaign

Ishan Kishan was among India’s standout performers throughout the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The left-handed batter scored 317 runs in 9 matches at an average of 35.22 and smashed three half-centuries during the tournament.
