SZA, Nicholas Hoult join voice cast of CoComelon: The Movie

Children’s animation phenomenon CoComelon has officially released their first-look and voice cast for the movie and children can’t keep calm

Young children and their parents are equally excited as globally popular children’s animation franchise CoComelon has officially revealed the first-look image and voice cast for CoComelon: The Movie, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 19, 2027, under Universal Pictures.

A lot of big names attached to it

The upcoming CG-animated feature film, inspired by the widely loved preschool series, will follow JJ, his friends, and several new characters in their adventures.

The movie’s newly announced voice cast includes SZA, Ike Barinholtz, Nicholas Hoult and Sarah Sherman. Additional cast members voicing new characters include Ego Nwodim, Josh Johnson, Matt Friend, Rhys Darby and Cristo Fernández.

The main cast for returning characters has also been confirmed. Connor Esterson will voice JJ, Camden Brooks will voice Cody, Olivia London Leyva will voice Nina, and Aerina DeBoer will voice CeCe in the film.

The movie is being developed by Moonbug Entertainment, the studio behind the hit preschool show, alongside Flywheel Media. The original CoComelon YouTube channel became a global sensation during the late 2010s.

Production on the film also includes Prime Focus Studios and DreamWorks Animation, while animation work is being completed by the DNEG Group. The feature will be directed by Kat Good, known for work on Kung Fu Panda. Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Justin Tranter will serve as the executive music producer.

Growth of CoComelon

The CoComelon franchise has expanded over the years with spin-offs including CoComelon Lane, Cody Time, Nina’s Familia and JJ’s Animal Time.

‘Moonbug’ is owned by Candle Media, led by co-chairmen and co-CEOs Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, with backing from investment funds managed by Blackstone’s private equity division. Meanwhile, Flywheel Media, founded by Don McGregor, is also working on The Angry Birds Movie 3, which is all set to release through Paramount Pictures in 2027.
