11-year-old Atiqa Mir from Jammu & Kashmir scripts history with landmark win in Greek motorsports

An 11-year-old racer from Jammu & Kashmir made history in Greece, achieving a landmark motorsports victory and bringing international recognition to India’s emerging talent.

Eleven-year-old karting prodigy from Jammu & Kashmir, Atiqa Mir, has achieved another major milestone in her growing racing career, securing a historic pole-to-flag victory in Greece. Competing in the Champions of the Future Academy Program in Thessaloniki, the young racer delivered a dominant performance, leading the race from start to finish after topping the qualifying sessions.

Mir's latest triumph has been widely hailed as a significant achievement for Indian motorsport. Competing against an international field, she displayed remarkable composure, consistency, and racing skill, further cementing her reputation as one of India's most promising young talents in global karting.

The achievement comes during a period of success for Indian sport, with athletes producing notable performances at international events. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently lauded the accomplishments of Indian athletes, highlighting their dedication and excellence.

“Congratulations to the Indian contingent at the 22nd Asian U20 Athletics Championships for winning 19 medals, including 10 gold medals. This outstanding performance reflects the determination and excellence of India’s young athletes. May these achievements inspire many more young Indians to pursue sports in the years to come,” the Prime Minister posted on X.
