Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have taken a significant step towards supporting education in Telangana by launching a scholarship programme for meritorious students studying in government schools.

The actors visited Thummanpet village in Achampet Mandal, where they interacted with students and their families as part of an initiative aimed at encouraging academic excellence and easing financial burdens on deserving youngsters.

Scholarships awarded to 180 students

Ahead of the event, Vijay Deverakonda shared the names of 180 students selected to receive scholarships under the programme.

The initiative focuses on students from Classes 9 and 10 in the Achampet region and seeks to reward those who have demonstrated strong academic performance.

Sharing details of the programme, Vijay said the effort was part of a larger dream to support education and give back to the people who have supported him throughout his career.

Addressing students and parents, he emphasised that the scholarships were only the beginning of a broader vision to recognise hard work, discipline and dedication among young learners.

Vision to expand across Telangana

According to the Hindustan Times, during the event, Vijay spoke about his desire to gradually expand the programme beyond his native region and make it accessible to students across Telangana.

He described the initiative as a personal mission and said celebrating the determination and commitment of students was just as important as providing financial assistance.

The actor's father hails from Thummanpet, giving the village a special place in his life and making it a fitting location for the launch of the programme.

Rashmika expresses excitement over the initiative

According to the Hindustan Times, Rashmika Mandanna also addressed the gathering and congratulated the scholarship recipients.

She expressed her enthusiasm about the programme and said she was delighted to be part of an initiative that could positively impact the lives of students at a crucial stage of their education.

The actress noted that the scholarship programme was beginning in Achampet and Thummanpet but carried the potential to grow much larger in the future.

Promise fulfilled after earlier commitment

The scholarship initiative was first announced earlier this year when Vijay and Rashmika visited Thummanpet for a house-warming ceremony and religious rituals at a newly constructed family home.

At the time, the actors pledged to support students in the region by helping them continue their education without financial constraints.

The programme now marks the fulfilment of that promise, with 180 students becoming the first beneficiaries

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 11 and will be their first cinematic pairing since their marriage earlier this year.
