Jhargram competitors win four gold medals in kick boxing

Kickboxers from Jhargram delivered an impressive performance at a recent tournament, clinching four gold medals and bringing pride to the district with their skill, discipline, and hard work.

Competitors from Jhargram won four gold medals in a kickboxing competition. The ISCO India Eastern Zone Kickboxing Championship 2025 was held in Siliguri on the 13th and 14th of this month.

Three competitors- Shilpa Haldar, Labani Routh and Shubha Kumar Mahato – participated on behalf of the Jhargram District Sports Kickboxing Association.

Shilpa won two gold medals by finishing first in point fight and light contact in the 57 kg weight category. Labani won a gold medal in musical form and a bronze medal in point fight in the 40 kg weight category, while Shubha Kumar won a gold medal in light contact in the 50 kg weight category.

Sports enthusiasts in Jhargram are elated by the success of these three competitors from the district.

Abhijit Roy Chowdhury, secretary of the Jhargram District Sports Kickboxing Association, said, "The popularity of kickboxing has increased in the district. Competitors are bringing multiple medals by performing well in competitions from the state to the national level. Three competitors brought four gold medals in the kickboxing competition held in Siliguri. We are happy about this."
