A 60-year-old cricket umpire died after being attacked by a swarm of bees during a match in Unnao, near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday afternoon, The New Indian Express reported.

Manik Gupta, who had been linked with the Kanpur Cricket Association for nearly 30 years, suffered multiple bee stings and was first taken to a private hospital. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to another hospital in Kanpur, where doctors declared him dead. The incident took place during a match between YMCC and Paramount at Sapru Stadium in Shuklaganj, Unnao.
