Instagram reels have become one of the most sought-after time pass option, offering brief videos on a vast range of topics, including health and fitness, education, awareness and entertainment. Once a user opens Instagram, time loses essence and fingers just keep swiping to find new and engaging content.
However, there are times when the content becomes repetitive and barely resonates with the interests of the user. At times, the entire explore page goes for a toss and starts shows irrelevant videos.

How does Instagram algorithm work?
Instagram's algorithm depends a lot on user engagement. The software learns what users like and adjusts the feed based on each reel they watch fully, rewatch, like, or comment on. However, accidental interactions can also influence the algorithm, causing similar videos to appear again in the feed.
Changes in user interests provide another reason to reset the Instagram Reels algorithm. Content that was interesting to users a few months ago may no longer be relevant as their interests shift. There are also times when they come across irrelevant or upsetting content, making a reset of the algorithm necessary.
How to reset?
Open the Instagram App and go to your profile. Now, you need to tap the three-bar More option icon in the top-right corner and select Content Preferences from the menu.

Once this is done, you need to tap on Reset suggested content, review the information displayed on the screen and accept the terms. Now juts tap Reset suggested content to confirm and you're all set.
After the reset is complete, Instagram will slowly begin customising your suggestions. You will see suggestions for topics that may differ from the usual content. According to the social media giant, resets cannot be reversed.
